Quick Overview

A deep hue of dark garnet is almost opaque. The weight of the wine is evidenced in the long and rich legs that coat the sides of the glass. Aromatics of ripe cherry and gooseberry mingle with the scent of newly toasted oak and freshly baked croissants. The entry of the wine is both soft and massive all at once. It coats the mouth and leads into a mid palate laced with fine layers of deeply ripe stone fruits. The wine finishes with long chains of subtle tannins and sophisticated structure.
Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon

Without quality grapes, great wine is impossible. This underscores the mission here at Orin Swift, and our Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to this philosophy. With two fantastic vintages (2012 and 2013) in mind, the 2014 harvest was just as stunning with even ripening, a low yield and high quality. Mercury Head is sourced from the Taplin and Moriosli vineyards in St. Helena and Rutherford as well as hillside Atlas Peak vineyards. We also procured high quality grapes from the Milat vineyard in St. Helena for the first time. Harvested grapes were crushed and vinified separately, then meticulously tasted and trial blended after 18 months of ageing in French Oak barrels—50% of which were new. The 2014 Mercury Head is incredibly complex with a beautiful structure that will continue to age for years. We hope you enjoy the latest offering of our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon.
